Our mission

Trust Activities

Every successful organization should aim at giving something back to the society. Giving back to the society not only makes us more generous, it also gives us a sense of purpose and happiness. With this in mind, we started Vikas Charitable Trust at Kirloskar Brothers Limited in the year 1994.

Since its very inception, Vikas Charitable Trust is actively engaged in community development and has sought ways to enhance education and health care to the needy. In the endeavor, we are working on 50-55 secondary schools in 6 tehsils. 2000 plus teachers are engaged in empowering knowledge to 42,000 students. Mainly the 6 tehsils in Sangli district like Palus, Walva, Tasgaon, Khanapur, Kadegaon and Miraj are the major field-work places. Apart from this, the trust also provides services in other parts of country like Kondhapuri , Shirwal ,Dewas, Coimbatore and Ahmedabad.

To create a sustainable world of equal opportunities and to the enrich lives of those bright students who are unable to study for want of finance and guidance, our volunteers are toiling without charging any remuneration. Today the Vikas Charitable Trust is excelling in glamour and glory only because of financial help rendered by Kirloskar Brothers Limited and few voluntary donors and also along with the untiring efforts by our staff employees and volunteers.

WASH Training

About 50% of the developing world’s population – almost 3 billion people – lack good sanitation facilities and over 900 million people still use unsafe drinking water. WASH supports the national and state governments in developing and implementing a range of replicable intervention models for sanitation, hygiene and water supply.

In accordance with the concern of Late Shri Shantanurao Kirloskar towards improving conditions of cleanliness and discipline locally and his zeal to make a difference, we introduced the correct way to wash hands with soap in numerous schools. This was a joint initiative with the UNICEF WASH program.

Drinking Water facilities

Drinking water supply and sanitation in India continue to be inadequate, despite long standing efforts by the various levels of government and communities at improving coverage. The level of investment in water and sanitation, albeit low by international standards, has increased in size during the recent years. Vikas Charitable Trust took on this challenge and provided safe drinking water to the rural population.

Artificial Leg Donation

VCT has provided artificial legs ( Jaipur Foot ) to more than 25 beneficiaries in surrounding areas.

Rain Water Harvesting

Water is our most precious natural resource and something that most of us take for granted. Water

To meet the increasing demands of water like Domestic – drinking, cooking, washing, Agricultural – farming, gardening, cultivating and Industrial – manufacturing; rainwater harvesting plays an important role.

Vikas Charitable Trust funds schools to initiate water harvesting mechanism to fulfil the water requirements throughout the year.

Vermicompost Plant

Verm casting, also called vermicomposting, is the processing of organic wastes through earthworms. It is a natural, odourless, aerobic process, much different from traditional composting.

Vermicasting can be done on a small scale by homeowners with household organic wastes, on a large-scale by farmers with manure or by the food industry using organic wastes such as fruit and vegetable materials.

Vikas Charitable Trust promotes to build a Vermicomposting unit, using house wastes in to various schools.

Greening Minds

This joint programme of the Kirloskar Company and the Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research, Pune aims to reach out to the local community at Kirloskarwadi. It focuses on knowledge building, skill development and harnessing of traditional knowledge to foster knowledge transfer and support the design of sustainability initiatives through a participatory approach.

Kirloskar Brothers Limited’s WaSH Project is aligned with Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) resolved in the UN Summit meet held on 25-27 September 2015, in which India was represented.

Hobby is a regular activity that is done for enjoyment, typically during one’s leisure time. Hobbies can include collecting themed items and objects, engaging in creative and artistic pursuits, playing sports, or pursuing other amusements. Automating repetitive and mundane work with predictable, expected results in manufacturing, has led to the availability of more free time to undertake hobbies or creative and innovative pursuits.

We conducted various activities in our campus with proper guidance of Best in Class Coach. Getting the best out of waste is the most important way one can contribute to the environment. Best-out-of-waste ideas are limitless and conceptualizing on these lines can be loads of fun. Best-out-of-waste is a process in which we make different things from waste materials. It is creating something useful out of waste things. This concept has gained global significance and is catching on fast. Materials that are popularly used for best out of waste projects are newspapers, cords and threads, buttons, candy sticks, recycled bulbs, plastic bottles, pieces of any old furniture . The list is endless. These projects can be made by our students along with parents depending of the level and degree of project that one has in mind.
